I definitely bent my intake valves installing the cam wrong the first time. No compression, and getting a cylinder 1 misfire code. I put it back together with the correct timing, at least, so 2-6 are OK. I’ve been dreading having to pull the head. If I had just taken my time....

I knew you'd do this

You gotta take your time with timing :)

Damn man. I was going to comment in your other post to turn it by hand/breaker bar (with the plugs out) first, but figured you probably already knew that.

Timing is good. When I first put the intake cam in, I didn’t have it pointing in the right direction. Tightened it all the way, then took it off and put it back on correctly. So everything else is OK except for #1 intake valves

So you installed it incorrectly, ran the engine, reinstalled correctly, then put the exhaust cam in?

No, I bolted it in, then unbolted it right away and put it on right

You bent the valves bolting in the camshaft?

Hmm, valves.

Yeah. Cylinder 1 gets locked at TDC

Never heard of that happening before. Well on the bright side you could get the head ported and polished while it’s off. Might as well do all new valve seats too while it’s out.

I’ll be sending it to a machine shop for sure

The pelican guide said the easiest spot for installation is when the cams are only acting on #1 and no other cylinder... which is fine if you have the head out if the car. I wasn’t thinking
